+597325277, Brokopondo, Upper Suriname, Suriname

A really great addition to the site and the most remote to date. Before this I had no idea of a country called Suriname and I would have considered myself a man of the world. The number is working and rings too. It's location is at the local health clinic in this town called Brokopondo that's on the banks of the like-named lake in this remote part of this South American country called Suriname.

Many thanks to Chrissy Martin from Picasa for this contribution.

Strange Payphone Model

Saw this at the Central London Computer Fair where I sometimes go to pick up that latest Chinese imports and other such fakes. It has no number, it doesn't work at all. I've looked all over it and found no markings or sign of it's manufacturer. In fact I've never seen this type of private payphone before. If anyone has any idea who made it and perhaps where else in might be found please visit this link for more ways to contact me.

Big thanks to twitter user rcknr.

Payphone Ripped Out

Cool picture found on Twitter. Don't have anything else to say about. I don't even know where it's from. (I am trying to establish it).

Cool Payphone in Advert

As part of a campaign to sell a car. Cool shot just thought I'd post it. However, I don't have any other info I'm afraid. Still...

Also, the really neat thing is that this exact payphone is featured on the site already. Follow this link to check more pictures and it's number.

Only got a pic of one of the phones, kind of hard to hear with the traffic on Stadium Blvd, someone at the pumps filling up their car might hear these ringing at answer.

Big thanks to NOMADCOWATBK for this one.

Across the corner from the other payphone +15734499415, across the street from Snapper's bar and near other bars, this phone is full of static when someone answers and you probably won't be able to understand them, it will probably remain this way until it is eventually removed.

If you wanna try calling, the best time to call is Thurs-Fri-Sat nights, particularly when the bars closing around 1AM Central Time.

Big thanks to NOMADCOWATBK for this one.

British Phone Box "Telephone" Sign

Striking sign that's pasted across the top - back of the majority of
British Phone Boxes.

+442072294977 & +442072294968, Park Royal Underground Station, London

Two lonesome phone boxes outside this London Underground Station (Royal Oak). The footpath past these boxes get a lot of footfall. You might get the odd tourist using these phone boxes. But you stand a chance of catching someone waiting here, just like the lady in the shot.

+442077303912, Victoria Coach Station Arrivals, Buckingham Palace Road, London, SW1W 9TP

A real good one here. I've always seen this payphone on returning trips to London by coach. This place gets real busy in the evenings and hundreds upon thousands of people pass this point and your get hordes of tourists queuing at the exchange desk opposite. A real good one to call and rings nice and loud too.

Private Payphone at The Grosvenor Hotel in London Victoria Station

Just passing and found this payphone in the lobby of The Grosvenor Hotel. I remember from my childhood that this place used to have a whole row of payphones. No hangs one, and there's a touch screen computer terminal offering up tourist information on London, where some of the other payphones used to hang. But I am glad that one survives. The bad news is that it does not accept incoming calls.

Payphone Maintenance

In Victoria Coach Station in London, UK. Seen this BT man going through a bank of payphone maintaining each one. Looked like he was just checking switches and coin slot.

In any case I got questioned by security as to way I was taking shots of the payphones. Hadn't been the first time I've been asked.

+442076293780, Payphone in Staff Area in John Lewis, Oxford Street, London, United Kingdom

This one is from the 6th floor of the famous and much loved middle England department store. The payphone is situated within the staff only area. It's opposite a lift that staff use to get to and from their employee canteen. Give it a call and you'll get a friendly staff member to talk with.

Payphone Handset - Vandalised

On my way to work today I am starting to notice that the same phone box is being vandalised! And this vandalisation seems to be targeted at the payphones handset! The handset was only replaced a few days ago. And thinking back I remember this phone box has nearly always hand a demolished handset.

Walking on further down my normal route to work only a few metres on from the before mentioned phone box, I take the time to crossover the road to see another phone box that I normally ignore. Just to see if it's handset is intact?! And guess what, exactly the same thing has happened to this one's handset. Wires spraying all over the place.

It is an interesting subject this, the vandalising of payphones. They only stand to offer the public a service, a means of communication. Why are they subject to so much hate? It is a subject that I will put more thought to and something you will see more posts here on about.

+441223303176, Payphone at Sidney Street, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom
My favourite payphone in this student den Cambridge. It's is an open air booth that gets tons of footfall past it. Rings super loud so giving you the best chance of an answer here.

+441223350690, Payphone Jcn Quayside and Bridge Street, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom
This payphone is right next to some outside seating of a few river side restaurants. The river here in Cambridge is called the river cam and is 40 miles (64km) from here to the sea. In one of the shots you see a builders road-sign perched up against this phone box.

+441223359710, Payphone at Jcn Market Hill and St Marys Passage, Cambridgeshire, CB2 3PG, United Kingdom

+441223359710, Payphone at Jcn Market Hill and St Marys Passage, Cambridgeshire, CB2 3PG, United Kingdom
The number is for the nearest phone box in the shot. These payphones do see quite heavy use from locals and tourists.

Bowes & Bowes was a bookseller and publishing company located at 1 Trinity Street, a corner position at the junction with St Mary's Street. It has a claim to be the oldest bookshop in the United Kingdom, with books having been sold on the site since 1581.[5] The Bowes & Bowes shop closed in 1986 and it was taken over by Sherratt & Hughes, which itself closed in 1992. Since then, the site has become the Cambridge University Press bookshop.

Toy British Phone Box

I found this great tourist merchandise from the British Isles. It was in a National Trust shop in Cambridge. I've looked for it online but to no avail. If anyone knows of an online retailer that I can reference here please do let me know. It's so visitors from around the world to this site wanting one can have a good chance in obtaining their own British Phone Box.

+441223363179 & +441223316670, Silver Street and Trumpington Street Payphones, Cambridgeshire, CB3 9EL

+441223363179 & +441223316670, Silver Street and Trumpington Street Payphones, Cambridgeshire, CB3 9EL
These two payphones sit between two famous Cambridge colleges, Queens' College and St Catharine's College. Silver Street is also famous for housing Gwen Raverat the Granddaughter of the famous Charles Darwin.

Back to the payphones. They themselves don't see much use. But the payphone is heaving with the rush of students to make lectures. The good news is the ring loud and can be heard from outside the payphones, the issue is,.. will anyone have time to stop?!

The tiefste (lowest) Telefonzelle (payphone) Österreichs (austria) Wien Westbhf (vienna station)

Spotted this on twitpic by a user called bassena. It's apparent that the booth fell from the pillar. Never the less makes for an interesting shot.

+662237077, Huachiew Hospital, Khlong Maha Nak, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Bangkok 10100, Thailand

Geat contribution by BeBe Thanaporn from Thailand. It's a payphone at the Huachiew Hospital, simple a district hospital in Thailand. An interesting fact is that it is officially number 41 in the list of the World's tallest hospitals. And other interesting places in this district is the Golden Mount that can be seen from wide around. Many thanks to BeBe Thanaporn for this contribution that was sent to me via my BlackBerry pin:20f92265.

British Phone Box at Camden Lock Market

Well, it's more a security guard house. There's no payphone within, but does make for an interesting image. Shows how loved our British phone boxes have become that you see many adaptations like this one. If you see anything like this please do take and picture and send it on over to the site contact@payphone.org.uk. I am very interested in anything payphone/phone box related.
